ACTINIC (SOLAR) KERATOSIS: OVERVIEW

Actinic keratosis, which is also called solar keratosis is a condition that is formed when the skin is damaged badly by ultraviolet (UV) rays from the exposure to the sun or indoor tanning.AKs are a reoccurring disease, and most people usually have more than one AK. People who have more than one AK are said to have actinic keratoses or AKs.

Those that have more than one AK should be under the watch of a dermatologist. People with more than one AK usually develop new AKs throughout their life. This condition is precancerous, and if left untreated, it may develop into squamous cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer.

If this condition is detected early, it can be treated before it develops into cancer. Even if it develops into cancer and is caught at an early stage, it may be cured by the treatment. This remedy can only be given if the patient visits the dermatologist clinic early and goes for regular checkups.

At Clear Skin London, we diagnose and treat actinic keratosis. For more information or treatment on AKs, come to us. Simply book an early appointment by calling us on 020 71833648 or visit our office.
