What is melasma?

Melasma is a skin condition that results from overexposure to the sun.  It manifests as coloured patches of brown, black, or grey-brown on the face mostly, although it can also be on any part of the body that receives sunlight. It can show up on the cheeks, forehead and even on the upper lip.
